The visit by the three Romanian paediatric surgeons to the UK was well received. Having visited three UK hospitals: Southampton University Hospital, Kings College Hospital, London and the Leicester Royal Infirmary, there is every likelihood of establishing a close working relationship between the UK centres of excellence and the two paediatric hospitals in Bucharest and Iasi.
This educational and observation visit has given the Romanian surgeons another perspective in their surgical intervention of neonates and young children and additionally how they are able to support the infants as they develop. Dr Spataru stated that he had seen so many interesting aspects during the visit, some of which he hopes to be able to introduce into his own practises.
All three surgeons were most complimentary of their visit and wished to thank the lead surgeons and their colleagues at all three hospitals and to ROPSF for the organisation and support of this project.
